The KCB Lions moved to the top of the Kenya Cup standings with a narrow 6-3 win over Homeboyz RFC at the Lions Den in Ruaraka. Two Darwin Mukidza penalties were the difference as the Lions survived a late Homeboyz penalty to return to the top of the table as they seek to reclaim the Kenya Cup for the first time since 2007.

The Lions have 34 points, one ahead of Nakuru and Strathmore who are on 33 points, Mwamba and Quins are tied on 30 points while Impala are on 27 points. Nondies are on 17 points, Machine on 15 points, Kisumu 12 points and Homeboyz 10 points.

KCB II kept up the pressure on the leaders in the Eric Shirley Shield, beating Homeobyz II 10-3 in the early fixture at the same venue.
