Already crowned league champs,Kenya Harlequin FC ended the 2010/2011 Kenya Cup campaign with a 19-19 draw against Kenya Commercial Bank in a feisty, physical encounter at the RFUEA Grounds.

It was a cagey start to the game, both sides opting to keep it tight in the forwards. Quins loose forward Victor Oduor went over, giving his side a 5-0 lead. KCB would soon lose lock Dennis Mwanja to th sin bin but this seemed to give his side the attacking impetus, as they launched forays into Quins territory, Max Adaka dropping the ball twice in quick succession on the Quins try line. Quins would soon go further ahead, Sidney Ashioya going over to give his side a 10-0 lead with Peter Abuoga converting for a 12-0 score.

KCB would finally get points on the board when Mwanja touched down from a rolling maul with Fabian Olando converting for a 12-7 half time score.

Quins were quick off the mark upon resumption, center Patrice Agunda taking advantage of a costly Andrew Amonde slip, slice through a static KCB cover defence to score under the posts. Abuoga’s conversion took the scores to 19-7, KCB looking dead and buried.

Then soon after, the game degenerated into a series of mini brawls and flare ups that would best be dealt with by the Administration Police, but referee Constant Cap ably sorted this out, handing out a red to Quins lock Martin Likhami at the height of the side shows.

This one man deficit allowed KCB back into the game with Mwanja, who minutes earlier had been the object of Likhami’s rage and attention, went over, again from a rolling maul, cutting the deficit to 19-12 before back row Anthony “Junior” Ochino barged over late in the game with Fabian Olando converting to tie the scores at 19-19.

Quins ended the season unbeaten, winning thirteen of their fourteen matches.

Leading 31-7 at the interval,Strathmore survived a second half rally from Mean Machine, holding out for a 34-24 win while Impala ended etheir Kenya Cup campaign with a 21-5 win over visiting Nakuru. Nondies succumbed to a 24-5 defeat at the hands of Mwamba RFC.
