The KCB Lions emerged 16-9 winners over Impala RFC over the weekend after a solid performance. The team now only needs a point from their final fixture against Mean Machine to retain the diadem for the third consecutive year.
It was Kenya scrum half Peter Mutai who set the ball rolling for the champs when he dove over after a good drive by the forwards. The conversion was wide. Mutai however redeemed himself with two penalties to set the scores at 11-0 at half time.
Impala came back strongly in the second half and managed to post nine points on the board via Moses Kola who scored two penalties and Nato Simiyu’s drop goal before John Meso Ahenda crossed the line after a good run by Howard Okwemba. Mutai’s conversion was wide.
In other results, Kenya Harlequins were comfortable 29-8 winners over Nondies to ensure the race went to the final day. Mean Machine lost narrowly to Mwamba 23-24.
